CHRONOLOGY OF THE CAPTAIN SCARLET UNIVERSE
The following chronology, which could be stated as "semi-official" was compiled by Keith Ansell. It uses dates and information taken not only from the Captain Scarlet Universe, but from some other universes created for the many Gerry Anderson's TV series. Anderson himself did not conceive the series so they should intertwine with each other's, like it often happens in the "TV Century 21" books, although some ideas, such as a World Government, are common to many of these series.
The Chronology first appeared in the pages of "Century 21 - The World of Gerry Anderson", issue 15, published in 1993.
Ideas taken from other universes are marked by a yellow star, with references reported at the bottom of this page.
If someone happens to notice mistakes, errors or omissions, feel free to inform me, so I could update this page accordingly.
A Chronology of the Gerry Anderson Universe, using all the Anderson series, and also compiled by Keith Ansell can be found on this website as well.

NOTES: Many Ideas (such as those given in TV Century 21) showed storylines, set years after the last dated events in the series itself, which illustrated events such as the ending of the “war of nerves”. As any such information given in TV21 is not “official” it can be taken as false or with “a pinch of salt”. One such “unofficial” date from the TV21 Diary is that of: |
||
|
09/11/2077
|

The yellow stars above refer to other Anderson television shows, setting all these series in the same universe (often referred to by fans as 'the Anderverse'. |
|
World Intelligence Network (or WIN) |
The name of the secret service organisation in the “Joe 90” series, which was the second series created by Gerry Anderson, just after “Captain Scarlet”, in which real human proportions were used for the puppets. |
Universal Secret Service |
Taken from the series “Secret Service”, which also used real human proportions for puppets. A note of interest: the puppet used for the character of “Captain Scarlet” was also used in this series - “heavily” disguised behind glasses - to personify “Paul Blake”… The character of Blake is some official biographies of the Secret Service, uses the name “Adam Metcalfe” to write some fiction books… which seems to give some relationship between the two characters. |
Space Patrol |
From “Fireball XL-5”. |
Fireball XL-3 |
From “Fireball XL-5”. All the rockets in this early Supermarionation series in black in white were dubbed “Fireball XL-something... |
World Aquanaut Security Patrol (or WASP) |
From the first Supermarionation series in colour “Stingray”. It was the name of the military organisation in this series. |
Stingray |
From “Stingray”, which was the name of the submarine Captain Troy Tempest was in command of. |
Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward |
Probably the most popular character from the “Thunderbirds” series. In the TV Century 21 Universe, director of FAB, detective, secret agent, spy… An original idea in the “Captain Scarlet” universe was to present her as an elderly woman when she becomes mentor to Dianne Simms (who later will become Rhapsody Angel). |
Federal Agents Bureau (or FAB) |
The independent Detective/Secret Service agency directed by Lady Penelope. In later days, directed by Dianne Simms, before it was forced to close down. |
SPECIAL NOTE:
This "official chronology" is taken as basis for my personal fan fiction pages. I may take some liberty with it, for creativity' sake, but will try to make it so this chronology will not be too tempered with. As time goes by and I will create my own universe within it - I will eventually update this chronology in a special section of my fan fiction pages, adding my own ideas in a different colour. Some ideas from other fan fiction authors could be added as well ( I already have taken some from Kimberly Smith Murphy and Mary J. Rudy, hope they won't mind…). So there won't be any mistake about it, THIS official chronology, aside from corrections and additions due to omission, will not be touched in THIS page. A link will be added for the Fan Fiction version.
