Actually Marion, Peter Dyneley (Jeff Tracy) was British, Shane Rimmer (Scott) & Matt Zimmerman (Alan) are both Canadian, Ray Barrett (John) is Australian and David Graham (Gordon, Brains & Parker) is also British. :wink:

And the Tracy family are American... and so are Troy Tempest and Phones - and I suspect Steve Zodiac is too if it comes to that. :wink:

I'm not talking about the actors - but the actual characters.

Okaaaaaay, now I see where you're coming from!

Incidently, despite the fact that all the Supermarionation programs were made in the UK, their principal characters were indeed all American. Gerry & Sylvia believed that this would make the shows more saleable to US broadcasters, without alienating UK viewers (who were already accepting of American-made programs!).

The decision ultimately paid off, as Fireball XL5 was bought by NBC in 1963.

Unfortunately, Thunderbirds wasn't so lucky. They wanted too high of a price, and there were no takers from US networks. Ergo, it was cancelled six episodes into the second season.

However, it WAS picked up two years later, in syndication to US markets.

I've just cast my vote - for Captain Blue. Frankly it was never going to be for anyone else!

If there was a second place though, I'd definitely add Captain Ochre to the list. :wink:

Ochre, definitely. He also gains from being one of the characters that they didn't go into any real depth with, so I can play with his character and stuff. Oh, yes, let's hear it for stuff. :shock:

After him it would be Magenta and then White. Blue suffered from being blond and blue-eyed. I'd had my fill of blond, blue-eyed poster-boys being thrust down my throat and I was in no mood to tolerate another one. (Did I mention I was a belligerent child? :wink:

) Plus Blue had a tendency to lecture and that had me reaching for the rotten fruit. (A delightful child, truly.)

And Ochre had-- hang on, family values, right? Ahem, better stop here.

Richard Fraser - aka Captain Ochre - looks like running away with this one. Boy, did NCS make a BIG msitake when they sent him for a sex change :wink:

I must admit that there was a shriek of disbelieving rage when I first found out that my lust object was suffering a sex change. Don't get me wrong, I like the new Ochre - my objections to NCS has other roots - but why did it have to be my object of affection, damn it????

Hey, in my defence I would hastily point out that I placed White third! Only reason he isn't higher is because he overawed me a bit. Well, all right, a lot. Bit difficult to fancy someone when you've the strong suspicion they're going to throw you off the base any second. And that they know exactly what you're thinking and what you've been up to in the immediate past. A guilty conscience plays hob with one's libido.

Personally, I do feel there is a lot to be said for the attractions of the more...mature gentleman.
Although, one does get such a thrill at the sight of all those handsome young men with their rippling muscles and chivalrous manners, that it can make it rather hard to choose between them all...
My butler once told me ' a little of what you fancy does you good, M'Lady' - a philosophy I have quite taken to heart in this instance.
