Getting close to Captain Black

Incidentally, earlier in the same episode, Lieutenant Green asks Colonel White whether he can go down to join in the hunt. White refuses, but Green persists, adding with some feeling as an afterthought "I just wish I could meet him face to face - just once!" This rather interesting line suggests to me that Green has never actually met Black and/or that he has some personal score that he wants to settle: possible fan-fic material there?

I've often thought about Green's comment about wanting to meet Black face to face... I got the feeling that perhaps that was part of the reason why the Colonel kept him on the base... Perhaps he just doesn't much like traitors, though. I know how I'd feel!

I wonder if Green simply means 'I just wish I could meet him face to face - just once now he is a Mysteron'? It doesn't seem likely that he would never have met Captain Black before the Martian trip, unless Black wasn't posted to Cloudbase, of course, or was always away on missions.
Still, there is the chance that they met at Spectrum's official launch or some formal function, even then.
The final option is that Green's just got a bad memory for faces... :wink:

I thought that perhaps he wanted to know why Captain Black would turn on the organisation... or that perhaps he fancied hitting him a few times...

Prehaps Green feels really left out. he doesn't see much action. maybe White knows that green wouldn't preform to the best of his abilities if let off cloudbase at that time.

I am coming to appreciate that Lt Green is a character with a lot of potential.
He has a very important job for such a young man and, as with so many of them, he has lived a life packed with incident and achievements. A pocket radio telescope? Really? :roll:

He does show something of a rebellious streak too - he wants to go and thump Captain Black, he asks several times for permission to go and get his hands dirty with the grown-up captains, he lies to the colonel to cover for Captain Blue, and tells Scarlet where the colonel is - against orders. He gets very het up when Rhapsody is 'killed' and finally, there his possible comment that 'any one can be brave if they're indestructible'. Even if he didn't say it, someone - at least - thought it was plausible that he might think it!

Yes, lots of plot bunnies there... :grin:
