Blue & Green?
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
In a Granada-released, Gerry Anderson-approved piece of writing, about the six main characters, Green is revealed to 'hold a torch' for Blue.
Now, I know this has been partly discussed in some of my other posted topics, but DO YOU THINK BLUE RETURNS GREEN'S FEELINGS, AND DO YOU THINK THEY WOULD MAKE A GOOD COUPLE?
Here are the reasons I have, to try and prove that he does more than just like her...
'Swarm'
1. Green thanks Blue for 'coming to look for her' at the end. Blue smiles in a sort of happy way that makes him look like an idiot. Plus, Scarlet and Destiny are giving them some odd looks, and the Colonel seems very quick to stop them by interrupting.
2. Blue insists on looking for Green, and he pauses when saying 'Well, I... I've got an idea...' He looks like he had to do some quick thinking, and also like he was going to say 'I don't care', or something similar.
3. He panics somewhat when he sees Green wrapped in the bug goo, saying, 'We've got to get this stuff off her!'
'The Homecoming'
1. Green tells Blue her sob story outside her fathers room. Blue looks all emotional, and puts his hand on her shoulder (to comfort her!?)
2. Blue gets Green from her Quarters when her father wakes up.
3. When Scarlet realises Commander Lewis is a Mysteron and tells Blue and the Colonel, the first thing Blue thinks of is 'Serena's with him!'
4. When Commander Lewis nabs Green, Blue is seen sitting on a truck, looking miserable. When Scarlet says the base has to be blown up, Blue looks agonised, and says ' We can't blow it up! Serena's in there... She'll be killed!' Scarlet contradicts him, then Blue sighs, and mutters ' There has to be a way to get in there...'
Now, some are just possibilities, but I included them anyway. Personally, I am all in favour of this 'ship, as you can probably tell from previous posts!
P.S. I know NCS is over with now , but I still think they would make an amazing couple!
P.P.S. Yes, I am obsessed with 'shipping!
P.P.P.S. Yes, I am also very pathetic...
P.P.P.P.S. Yes, I also know I need to get a life...

Don't worry, dear, although an excessive interest in maritime vessels is a little worrying, I would imagine it is fairly transitory and you will grow out of it. I have launched a few ships in my time and, of course, I have my own little yacht, but I don't find that they dominate my thoughts.

I wouldn't worry too much about it - a quick flick through the vast majority of the site fanfiction stories would show you that relationships amongst the characters (in both the Supermarionation and Hypermarionation series) are a common enough interest.
NCS probably did have more of that sort of thing in (and some of it was toe-curlingly naff ). Apart from the Blue/Symphony 'romance' - such as it is - the original show didn't reveal such things. Still, it leaves all the more for FF writers to speculate about.
I saw the 'official' bio for Green which said 'she carries a torch for Captain Blue' - so I guess that must be true. I'm also sure I saw somewhere (can't remember where) that NCS Blue was a bit of a 'ladies' man' - he certainly chats up the Angels in 'Swarm' - if I remember rightly. Maybe he doesn't know what he wants?

Blue: Mind if I join you?
Harmony: Come on, Adam, take a seat...
Rhapsody: Have you heard the news?
Blue: What's that?
Symphony: Guess who's stuck in an elevator?
Harmony: For about an hour so far. I heard from someone at the Control...
Melody: Destiny and Paul
Blue: (Laughs) Lucky dog...
Symphony: Lucky Destiny...
(Laughs all round)
Now, if you ask me, he wasn't really chatting them up. I'm not having a go. Marion, just giving my opinion. Anyway, if he had dated someone, it would have to of been Green, Ochre or possibly Harmony, as they are the only female characters, apart from Destiny, who feature regularly. Minor characters never seem to get relationships...in any programme...

I think what I saw about Blue was on the 'Gerry Anderson' pages of the long-gone website - that's where Blue was also called 'Scarlet's gung-ho, battle-hungry friend' or something simliar.
I have to say that I found NCS Blue a rather unsympathetic character, although he did improve slightly by the end of the series - or maybe I was just getting over the shock of the new? - and I disliked the 're-imaginings' of the major characters far more than I objected to the changes in Ochre and Green - both of whom were perfectly acceptable characters - I only wish they'd been given other names than those used in the original series.
So, if Lady Green wants Badly-drawn Blue, she's welcome to him
I went hunting for the reference I mentioned about Blue - and I saw this on an earlier discussion. It is, apparantly, quoted from the Fanderson magazine FAB http://spectrum-headquarters.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=106&start=0
Its not a million miles from a 'ladies' man' to a chap who likes to 'have a good time, especially with the ladies'
I'm still sure I read it somewhere else as well - does anyone else remember anything similar, by any chance?

Yes he certainly does like Serena, it's obviouse, and i agree with serena, he doesn't flirt with anyone really, so i don't think he's a "lady's man"!!!!!

She peered at it.

The pre-show blurb said she had the hots for him - it didn't mention that he gave tuppence for her, only that he was a 'ladies' man'. Given that he was keen on partying hard with the ladies, he could well have been as 'attentive' to anything in a skirt (metaphorically speaking - I know they wore trousers.) He was just better at it than NCS Magenta, that's all.
I can't remember anything to suggest he had the hots for Green - anymore than he did for Lady Ochre, who treated him with a sort of sorrowing friendliness, as I recall - he may have cared about Green - after all she was obviously drooling over him, and he might have felt flattered - but he didn't seem to be panting after her. He seemed as concerned about the other Angels in 'Swarm' when the alarm first went off.
Okay: I haven't watched it for ages - and don't really want to - so what I remember is the first impressions I got - which has to count for something.
Besides, I think there is a law against romantic relations with Bush-Babies... and she's got to be a hybrid, at the very least. Think of those staring eyes...

Here's the recipe:
Plug your index finger into your ears as far as you can.
Then walk around singing loudly, and endlessly:
"LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA...."
Eventually, the bad words will go away...

May have also been mentioned in a few pre-show publicity articles that appeared on the net.
My take on the Blue Green thing, is that there is an attraction, but that it hasn't gone further than friendship, certainly in the TV episodes. Of course, where it might go is open to conjecture and fanfic writing ! It's an open enough situation to give scope to spin it out for a long time, unlike the situation with Scarlet & Destiny, where it was obvious that Gerry Anderson intended them to have a relationship.
I know people don't like D, but I feel it it's important to respect "canon", even when it may not be the situation you would ideally want. Of course, even if S & D do get it on, no-one says they have to stay together.......

Perhaps the thing Marion read about Blue being a "ladies man" came from the bios that were posted on the Pinewood Shepperton website.
Yep, I got them. It doesn't say ladies man, but it's sort of 'as good as'. It says 'He likes to have a good time, especially with the ladies'. Thats never seemed accurate with me...
I think that if it had been a 'real life' show, instead of a, principally, cartoon, aimed at young boys, they would have got together.
Given the age range and gender, they couldn't put to much romance in it anyway. If Blue/Green had been together, it would have been to much. You know how little boys are, one sniff of romance and they practically vomit.

Just a thought...I suppose he might be fractionally more tolerable than the new Magenta???
No - on second thoughs she should look for a partner elsewhere on Skybase. It's a big place.
