A little update on New Captain Scarlet DVD.
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
I think that it is fairly normal really. I guess that I was a bit thrown by the price starting out at £22.49 and then dropping quickly to £17.99 but then I guess that they were trying to make sure that the die-hard fans, who ordered in advance, payed a reasonable price.

So far I have only seen this individual DVD volumes and the combo season 1 & 2 sets for preorder - no sign of season 2 only yet?
Maybe Granada will make a big promotional push for January for those DVDs, the Corgis and the books!! Well, you never know....

The remaining individual Region 2 DVD volumes from the so-called 'Series One' of Gerry Anderson's New Captain Scarlet will be released by Granada Ventures on January 30th. Each disc features three episodes from the series' initial run of 13 episodes which aired on ITV in the spring of 2005, comprising the same contents as the discs from the box set released last October.
Volume 2 features the episodes The Homecoming, Mercury Falling and Circles Of Doom plus bonus photo galleries of production designs illustrating the series' craft, characters and environments. Volume 3 includes Rain Of Terror, Skin Deep and Chiller plus two behind the scenes featurettes - examining the series' production process and motion capture techniques - and a variety of broadcast and industry trailers. Volume 4 boasts Trap For A Rhino, Heist and The Achilles Messenger but no extras whatsoever. Subtitles are available on all episodes and the menus feature colourful animated graphics, but there is no Chapter Selection function as the instalments are not broken down with chapter points.
Each volume has a recommended retail price of £7.99 but can be purchased online for as little as £6.79 each (includes postage and packing). The four-disc box set comprising the series' first 13 episodes is still available with a recommended retail price of £29.99 by can be purchased online for just £22.49 (includes postage and packing).
IT ALSO SAYS:
The expected DVD release of the last 13 episodes of New Captain Scarlet (aka 'Series Two') has yet to be scheduled. Several online retailers are currently advertising that a complete series 26 episode box set will also be released on January 30th but this is understood to be erroneous.

I notice that the rankings are as follows:
Volume 1 - 4387 (Scarlet cover)
Volume 2 - 32558 (Destiny)
Volume 3 - 18274 (Blue)
Volume 4 - 18275 (Black)
My fear is that volume 2 has maybe only one copy on order and that volumes 3 and 4 have two copies each on order. The rankings and sales/orders of 3 and 4 are obviously identical.
I guess that I hope that these volumes find their way onto high street shops and take up a bit of room on the shelves, thus promoting NCS in general.
My fear is that Granada Ventures, who seem to be hopelessly out of touch as far as NCS is concerned, will take low sales of these separate DVDs as indicating that there will be no interest in a boxset of the second series (13 episodes) or of a combined 26 episodes boxset.
Hopefully, they will be fairly happy with sales of the first boxset but the ranking for this has now really started to slump - currently even below the volume 1 position.
In the words of Scarlet in Rat Trap - "Tell me something to make me smile, girls!" Hopefully, somebody out there can reassure us about a boxset for Series 2!

Volume 1 - 7294 (Scarlet cover)
Volume 2 - 15366 (Destiny)
Volume 3 - 15372 (Blue)
Volume 4 - 15371 (Black)
My guess is that this means that 2 copies of Volumes 2, 3 and 4 have now been ordered - perhaps in the last 24 hours or last 2 days or something like that!
