Sylvia Anderson's Contribution
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
I know that it's idle to speculate but it is difficult for me to see why New Captain Scarlet CGI is not a runaway success. Would it have been different if the Gerry/Sylvia partnership was still around?
It broke my heart when I found out that they had split up all those years ago. I remember them being together when they did the Captain Scarlet special on the Golden Shot (with Bob Monkhouse). Of course, Bob was a guest voice (Brad Newman) on the Thunderbirds Are GO motion picture.
I remember writing to Sylvia a few years ago in regard to The Secret Service with Stanley Unwin. She was very courteous and replied at length and with much consideration - she impressed me anyway.

So yes, while I agree maybe some of Sylvia's input has been lost, and perhaps changed the style of some of what we see, I do not think it is wholly responsible for the 'failure' of Gerry's more recent shows.
And it almost certainly can't be responsible for any potential failure for New Captain Scarlet - I'd lay that solely at the door of bad, almost invisible promotion and horrendous TV scheduling.

Expanding on what you've brought up Shaqui;
I was thinking last night what a bloody shame it is that the team behind NCS are looking likely to be scattered to the four winds after this current production.
In the sixties Anderson's team started out by doing something unique, and then with each subsequent show developed and honed the process.
NCS seems to me to have done something quite unique as well, at least for television.
Just imagine if the same production team had been able to move straight on to another cgi show. imagine the standard of the cgi 3 or 4 shows on!
Even if the technology they were using didn't advance (although I suspect it probably would), we'd at least have seen strides in the techniques for using that technology.
Oh, what could have been!

I also remember being insanely excited to meet Sylvia at Cult TV a few years ago...

The shows post 1999 S1 (With the exception of NCS! ) don't seem to me to be as visually slick. Maybe Sylvia's leaving contributed to this?

Well, 'involved with' seems a moot point, when it was revealed 'Century 21 Fashions' (for 'UFO' for instance) had actually been visualised by Keith Wilson!
I'm sure it sounded better that Sylvia Anderson had actually designed them (maybe she did, and maybe Keith Wilson was responsible for the drawn designs) but it greys 'who actually did what' for the fans...
Edit: Actually this interview confirms he did design the cloths on 'UFO':

I knew it was a bit of a grey area, that's why I chose my words carefully and said she was 'involved'. ; )
Mind you, didn't the late ( ) Ed Bishop say he always completely trusted Sylvia's judgement on clothes. She must have had some influence.
