Grey Skulls.
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
I remember one of the news letters saying that the last episode to be produced was called Grey Skulls.
But when TV Century 21 posted the names of the episodes I noticed that Grey Skulls was not on it.
Here is the list
http://www.tvcentury21.com/content/view/314/31/
But I came across a thread on the New Captain Scarlet fourms on www.imdb.com.
In the thread someone said that they got the new Complete Gerry Anderson: The Authorised Episode Guide.
He said that the book lists the Episode Grey Skulls in place of House Of Dolls.
So it looks like thay have drop the episode House Of Dolls.
Here is the link to the thread.

I think James is right... but intrigued to know why. And whether we'll see the script as an 'unfilmed/unproduced episode' as an extra on any DVD release if that is the case.

That does sound a really cool idea.
Ah well if it's not made, guess we'll just have to use it for fanfic.

House of Dolls eh? Yeah - I've seen the synopsis of that episode too - looked like it would have been a lot of fun (to make and to watch) sadly it's not in the lineup - we're just finishing the last 2 episodes now - GreySkulls and Dominion.
For the record - Dominion is actually the last episode of the second series (story-wise anyway) I suspect that GreySkulls will be broadcast before it.
Certainly I wouldn't be too disappointed about the omission of House of Dolls - GreySkulls is shaping up to be our most ambitious episode to date

House of Dolls...sadly it's not in the lineup
What a shame. It sounds like it would have made an excellent addition to the forthcoming DVD.
Aegis - I noticed that earlier on this forum (10 April) you said that production would wrap up on June 14th. As you are only now finishing the final 2 episodes, it seems like production has gone overtime. Any reason - technical problems, etc?
Also, from your reckoning, do you think that these last 13 episodes exceed the first 13 in terms of quality - both visual and storywise?
By the way, is Ron Thornton still onboard, or has he finished his duties?

"I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by" - Douglas Adams
At this point in time, Dominion is I believe, receiving some last-minute fixes and polishing (as all the episodes have done - there's always something the directors or Gerry would like changed or tweaked) and the main focus is on GreySkulls which is an enormous episode - practically a miniature feature film - it's running a little late but it was always expected this ep would overrun our usual 8 week schedule.
All of the second 13 episodes are considerably more ambitious (in the scope of the story and the realisation of the visual effects) than anything we attempted in the first 13 - this was done by design, the thinking being that we'd iron out all the kinks in the first series and really push the boat out for the second - rest assured you're in for a treat when they start airing
Ron's now back in the US - he was planning to do some teaching at the D.A.V.E. school (Digital Animation and Visual Effects I believe) but I suspect right now he's sipping mojitos and enjoying the Florida sun

Aegis, I find this comment very intriguing! Do you really mean that the episode is extended in length or does it just seem like it because of the action and plot? I wonder if you could clarify what you mean by the expressions 'enormous' and 'miniature feature film'.
Was there some logic in replacing the proposed House of Dolls with Grey Skulls? Perhaps, the latter was more suited to an extended episode? I am guessing but it would be nice to have a few clues!
If any episode was going to have the full Hypermarionation treatment, I would have expected it to be the last episode, 'Dominion'. I say this because that would leave the audience gasping for more!
Finally, would it be possible to have a brief synopsis of what Grey Skulls is all about - something along the lines of those thumbnail sketches written for the original 26 episodes?

I expect Aegis is refering to the scope of the episode, as well as the action. I doubt there would be any longer episodes, unless someone decided to double up 'Instrument of Destruction' as an opener.

Well one hopes for a cliffhanger but in this day in age, with TV stations less commited to the commissioning of a new series unless it's a guaranteed winner, Not that i don't think NCS is a winner, but simply because there's still next to no publicity to let people know it's on!
Is anyone able to comment on whether it's doing okay in any ratings?

I'd love to give you a synopsis but I'm afraid my lips are sealed by a fairly comprehensive NDA I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone anyway - I'm afraid you'll just have to wait for the episodes to start screening in the autumn...
