This is such very sad news and I send my condolences to his family.
So much of Gerry Anderson's work was an intregal part of the childhoods - and adult lives - of so many people in the UK and abroad. I couldn't thank him enough for all the pleasure his work has given me over the past decades.
It really is the end of an era.

Gerry Anderson shaped and filled my childhood imagination. There has been no other programme maker like him. He will be terribly missed.

So very sad, especially at Christmas. However, Gerry's legacy will live in the hearts of those who loved him and admired him. His body of work is unique in entertainment history and will not be forgotten by all the fans who continue to enjoy his shows and characters, not only on TV but on sites such as this.
All the more reason to ensure that this year's Christmas Challenge should live up to the glories of previous years; let's do Mr Anderson proud and make it a bumper crop of stories! The 2013 calendar, due to be unveiled next week, will be especially poignant.
R.I.P, Gerry. Sincere condolences to his wife and family.

What a fabulous legacy he has left us - so much pleasure already brought to generations of children and adults alike, and, I am sure, it
will continue to do so for many more to come.
He was, quite simply, FAB.
Thank you, Gerry.

I feel as though his supermarionation world has been with me all of my life.....and it's fair to say it will continue to do so. My family thought that eventually I'd 'grow out of it'. It never happened and it never will.
RIP Gerry.....and thanks.
