The New Series on TV
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
Groups of 5 for every 8 hour watch, while the other 10 are either on free time (5 of them ) or sleeping (other 5).
Then you need more for holidays and week day offs.
Hopefully we will see another group of 5 come off or on duty.

There was a rumour of there being 12 Angels in the new series - although I believe that has been quashed by Aegis, our resident 'colleague-in the know'
Nice to know that - in keeping with every other Anderson show (that I'm familar with, at least) - the new CS will be full of mind-boggling 'how on earth's that going to work scenarios...
It might have been a nice idea to have had 2 squadrons - the Angels - all female - and the...(shall we say...) Devils ? - all male....

Maybe there are twelve, but you just never see them in the show to avoid confusion.

I like that idea, but I feel that there could be copyright issues...

Likewise, anybody who occupies the post of leader of the aerial strike force is referred to as Destiny Angel. That way we can have potentially any number of Destiny Angels, and any number of Lieutenant Greens - including the old one if he comes back from wherever he's been for the last 38 years or so. The greater use of personal names is explained away by the need to distinguish one officer from his/her backup (whom we just haven't actually seen yet) and also the apparent change in the nationalities of the Angels - the ones we've seen are just the backup team.
So is there more than one Captain Scarlet? Could be - after all, hasn't it already been commented that the guy's features seem to have changed a bit even since the start of the new series? That's the reason, then! There are two of them, ensuring that our valiant hero remains alert and ready for action 24 hours a day. Presumably only one of them's indestructible though, so they've got to look pretty similar so the Mysterons don't know which one is susceptible to being zapped. Clever, huh?
Problem solved!

Well, if the Thunderbirds movie would have been as half as good of the 3 first episodes it would have pleased the fans and makes a lot of money.
I'm a big fan of Captain Scarlet, it always has been my favourite shows since my childhood and I must say that I'm more than happy of the results of the new series.
There are so many improvements, regarding the actions, personal relationships and a good sense of humour too.
Thanks to Gerry Anderson at least he keeps the feeling of the real thing alive.
Take Care!

As for names for the never seen 'other Angels' - you can't beat the ideas suggested by Mr Pratchett and Mr Gaiman in their wonderful story 'Good Omens' - where we meet not only the traditional 'Horsemen of the Apocalypse': Death, Famine, War and Pollution (Disease retired complaining about penicillin) now mounted on powerful motorbikes, but also the 'Hell's Angels of the Apocalypse' - namely: Grievous Bodily Harm, Embarrasing Personal Problems, Cruelty to Animals, No Alcohol Lager and Things Not Working Properly Even After you've Thumped Them....
Works fine for me...
BTW - Looking at the Fanderson episode previews - I see that Captain Grey gets to appear in one show (and is called a member of the the 'regular cast' ) So, maybe there ARE more members of Spectrum than the few we've seen already... I was beginning to have my doubts. After all, in these days of 'downsizing' maybe Scarlet and Blue were all that was left after another round of 'efficiency cutbacks'?

They have kept the zip up chest pocket
I think Gerry Anderson should get a proper costume made up (not that stupid Scarlet one knocking about) and get Holly to wear it, lets be honest she likes dressing up

Doc Brown wrote:[color=yellow]Suppose the colour/musical designation were to apply purely to the job as opposed to the person? We've already seen a greater use of personal names in this series, even on duty, than the previous one, and we've also seen a change of person in the form of Lieutenant Green. So... suppose Lieutenant Green is the designation given to the chief communications officer - and anyone who occupies that post is called Lieutenant Green. This isn't all that fanciful really, bearing in mind that Green's rank of lieutenant says nothing about her job title. After all, if somebody calls up Skybase in the middle of the night, they aren't going to know whether Serena is on duty or not - but they'll still expect to speak to "Lieutenant Green", where "Lieutenant" defines the rank, and "Green" denotes the function, namely communications.
Given what Colonel White said about Green being his XO, I'm not sure that Lieutenant Green is purely a comms officer. She seems to be more in the nature of an aide de camp or chief of operations. Also, we have seen Lieutenant Silver take over the main board. I would say that she is a senior rank Lieutenant in charge of daily operations on Skybase, and that she has personel under her direct command comprising of Silver and probably sveral over junior grade Lieutenants and/or non-comms. She is also probably over the support staff.
