ITV and CITV

They (ITV) blame this on the proliferation of children's broadcasting on satellitte and cable - which is almost exclusively American made - and the proposed restrictions on the amount of advertising, and the products covered by it, which will be allowed during children's programmes. (Cynically, I suspect this might have more to do with it... )
The watchdogs and pressure groups were up in arms, as you might expect, forecasting the imminent demise of Britain's cultural heritage amongst the young.
I only mention it - and I've only heard it this morning on the Today programme on Radio 4, so I haven't been able to check any of it - as it might throw a glimmer of light on a reason for CITVs treatment of NCS.
Maybe someone on the forum knows if this is true?

Apparantly ITV has plans to drop all its children's progamming apart from 2 hours at weekends - presumably Saturday mornings? - despite this being in contravention of their public broadcasting remit. They have already closed down their internal production facilities - according to Radio 4.

I have no knowledge you're looking for, but I will say this - if Gerry has any sense left he should seriously consider a lawsuit. Why should GAP have been made to suffer due to inside politics and a shakeup in the company airing the series?
And would make a very good case (pun intended) for a series revival, new marketing campaign, etc. etc... "It's a GREAT series, if you sign it on it'll make lots of money for you, it's plainly obvious ITV never gave it a chance..."

I would not be a happy person if I had put money in this.

Offset against tax. Best example I can think of is one of our local hospitals. They spents hundreds of thousands of pounds and six months refurbishing and re-eqipping one of the chest wards. Nine months after that the entire unit was closed down as part of a streamlining measure and the entire block was demolished, the equipment being reassigned to another unit.

Very good thinking, but on the ITV news, they said that 18% of itv has been bought out by B SKY B, because the commercial advertising is doing really badly, even so, another channel should of taken NCS it would off got the right advertising, at the right time of day, and shown on the better time too!!!! ITV!!!!

LATER: I discovered in a chat with the other Mods, that it is likely Granada were in a deal to broadcast the series as part of the original financing that got NCS made at all. Subsequent to that, of course, Granada were taken over by Carlton and goodness knows what happened to long term plans. ITV is currently without a Chief Exec and has 'all kinds of problems' - at least according to the Today programme Radio 4, this morning - one of these being (presumably) that they don't seem to know a good thing when they see it... ?
