Captain Scarlet article

Hi all!

I hope it's all right to post this here - I wasn't sure whether it belonged here or in another part of the forum.

During my undergraduate studies, I joined a Doctor Who fan society* which runs a fanzine, "The Tides of Time". Since then, I've occasionally contributed reviews, articles etc.

The reason I mention this is that, for the last issue, I sent in an article where I discuss Captain Scarlet and how it compares to Doctor Who episodes from around the same time period. Thank you very much for posting this, Captain Grey! I enjoyed your article very much; well-written, informed and full of interesting observations. I must admit to a very limited knowledge of the Doctor Who universe, so some of the comparisons were a bit lost on me. But I’m sure they will mean much more to some of the diehard fans on this forum (Doc Brown and Hazel, you really need to read this!)

Despite my deep and abiding love for the original puppet show, I am a devotee of New Captain Scarlet, the CGI series broadcast in 2005 (as you may have guessed from my moniker!) Like many other fans I was heartbroken at the appalling treatment of it by ITV. So many lost opportunities: the production team were really hitting their stride by the end of the second series. I understand a third series was planned and had this gone ahead, we might have had a conclusion to the War of Nerves, who knows? (Well, maybe Phil Ford does!

Very interesting article, Captain Grey! Thank you for linking to it. I have a copy of The Indestructible Man novel that you mentioned - I enjoyed spotting all the references to various Anderson productions mixed in with the Doctor Who storyline.

Thanks for that article, reading it was a pleasure! Sure, for me it was procrastination as I'm supposed to be writing about the consequences of the Greece golden visa https://residence-greece.com/golden-visa/ for the real estate market in the region, but I need that little bit of fantasy and nostalgia in a working evening!
