Thunderbirds are Go! takes the world by storm, as ITV has signed a bundle of international sales for their hit TV show!

From the Worldscreen.com website:

It has been acquired by Sweden’s SVT, Norway’s NRK Super, Denmark’s DR and Finland’s MTV Juniori, while Alicom has been named the Nordic licensing agent. Thunderbirds Are Go will broadcast on Ketnet in Flemish Belgium and ZAPP in the Netherlands, with License Connection set to serve as the agent for Benelux. Vivid France and Vivid Holland have acquired the respective master toy rights. In Turkey, the show will air on Minika TV. ITVS GE has also signed the first deals for the show in the Americas, with Thunderbirds Are Go set to launch on Gloob, which is Globosat’s kids’ channel in Brazil, and on Télé-Québec in French-speaking Canada. Meanwhile, in Asia, the show will air on Japanese terrestrial broadcaster NHK in a deal negotiated by ITVS GE’s Japanese agent, Tohokushinsha, with the toys set to be distributed by Takara Tomy. In addition, Roadshow has acquired the home-entertainment rights in Australia and New Zealand.

I am very happy to see in that list that the show has been taken up by a network from my neck of the woods! Though I've already seen the 13 first episodes (Twice! and got the DVD set!), now it's time for other viewers to discover and rediscover the magic of Thunderbirds!

Well, that is simply FABulous.....
I wonder what Gerry would have thought about it all, bless him. I hope he's looking down from Tracy Island heaven and smiling.

I'm very surprised (in a good way) at how they're promoting for Thunderbirds are Go on our local station. They're really getting into it, and even have a contest where the winners get a pass to go and see the episodes at the IMAX Theater in Montreal! The reaction to TB being aired during our Christmas special is very positive. I think it's so positive, they could do another viewing, but at the Quebec City IMAX (larger screen and better sound anyway). I know of at least two people who would go in a heartbeat.

I think Gerry would have been very happy, and with reason.

I've seen a Thunderbirds magazine where I work and this one has a free small TB2 model. Found myself tempted. For no reason other than to sit it next to my twenty-year-odd old Matchbox TB2. Don't know if a 30 year-old buying a blatant kids mag would look good (makes me miss buying it as a kid though and reading the comics over and over).
