I rather think we are facing a case of a "Offshot scene" (those of us who have a knowledge of movies or TV lingo can probably tell us what this is called exactly - I'm really not sure if I have this right.)
What I mean is, it is suggested in the scene we see that the driver was most certainly Mysteronised beforehand.
In technical terms, the 'missing scene' was not shot for the episode, but by seeing what happened, the viewer must be able to deduce what possibly - or logically - had happened before.
Similar techniques are used in written stories as well.
