The Mysterons and Radiation

I do think the premise for the Mysterons and Captain Black is more or less the same in both series', except that in NCS, he seemed to play a bigger part and his character was more developed. That made it a heck of a lot more interesting, but also made his tragedy seem all the greater.
OCS hinted at the fact that he retained some human qualities, and even a degree of compassion, but with the "dead" voice and deathly pallor, he did seem like a reject from Night of the Living Dead. It was hard to even imagine he had ever been human, so it was difficult to find his predicament interesting, especially as a child.
NCS Black is fascinating. He has such presence, which I imagine is what they would have wanted to do first time around, but perhaps it's more difficult with puppets, and anyway, the world has changed.
This time we kind of know he can come back, at least temporarily, and that makes his existence unimaginable. His tragedy is entirely of his own making, and that's something he clearly understands. The differences between him and Scarlet, ( and therefore Good and Evil, to be simplistic ) are not as great as it might seem, which makes it a shame that this programme was aimed at kids, not adults. What fun there was to had in a really futuristic, adult-themed series !
