CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE 2012 - ENDED
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
This is the official launch of our second annual fan fiction challenge - the Christmas Challenge!
This 2012-2013 Edition marks the 11th Edition of the Christmas Challenge. Created in 2002, it is second only to the Halloween Challenge in popularity. Over the past years, 90 stories and other projects were submitted to the Spectrum Headquarters for posting, including the website's very own unofficial calendar (mainly courtesy of the dedicated work of Caroline Smith).
So this year, like all other years before, we invite you to participate to the Christmas celebrations by presenting a story to be posted on our space, and to share it with others!
The aim of the challenge: to submit a Captain Scarlet Christmas-related story, either from the classic series or the newer CGI series. The story could related directly to the holidays season (Christmas, New Year, Hannukah, Epiphany, Twelfth Night, you get the idea!) or simply set during that period.
Stories are posted from December 1st to January 31st... Christmas is a very busy period for everyone, and with tbat additional delay, that should be enough to allow everyone involved in the project more time for presenting his/her project, to have it checked, beta-read (when required), and finally posted online.
For more details about the challenge, and to check the rules, and read the stories that had been previously posted, visit these pages:
http://www.spectrum-headquarters.com/christmas.htm
http://www.spectrum-headquarters.com/ch ... tories.htm
And submit your stories at spectrum_hq@hotmail.com. Please take into account the time needed for beta-reading when sending your stories.
Everyone is welcomed and we hope to you will participate in great number!

It has become a tradition that every annual challenge should at least have one re-posted story. So this year, we do it again - and so to start our 2012/2013 Challenge for Christmas, we offer you our chosen re-posted story.
THE MISTLETOE BOUGH
by Marion Woods. On Christmas Eve, Captain Scarlet finds the ghost in his family's closet is out for revenge. Christmas story. ff 91 Originally posted December 15, 2002
http://www.spectrum-headquarters.com/fa ... _bough.htm
Yes, this story had been originally posted TEN YEARS AGO, during our first edition of the Christmas Challenge - and was the second Christmas story submitted by Marion. So to properly honour the occasion, a new title art has been added to the story, and it was set for easy widescreen reading.
In the coming week, new stories will be posted on this website for the Christmas Challenge, so check this page for more additions. And you can always join us! The Challenge last all of December and January, and will end of January 31st! If you want to participate, and celebrate Christmas and the New Year with us, just check our rules on the Christmas Challenge page, and contact the webmaster at spectrum_hq@hotmail.com.
We are waiting for your story!

For the occasion, we have also corrected all of Skybase Girl's stories for better presentation and reading on a widescreen. It will be an occasion to revisit her stories and to enjoy them.
If you wish to participate to our Challenge, just check the Christmas page to that effect. You will learn our rules and conditions to participate. You can also write the webmaster at spectrum_hq@hotmail.com to ask additional questions and to present your submission.

This week, the middle of our Christmas Challenge, we take a break for the posting of new stories. But that doesn't mean we don't have ANY posting at all, as we take the opportunity to welcome and celebrate the return of two collaborators who, in the past have submitted wonderful stories to this website!
So this week, we offer you two reposted stories:
THE TRUE MEANING...
by Lady Hawke. Peace is all Captain Scarlet wishes for this holiday. Getting it is a different story... ff 89 Originally posted December 10, 2002.

The Christmas Challenge is not finished! In the coming weeks, we'll have new stories to offer you... and as well, NEXT WEEK, you'll be able to view our unofficial Captain Scarlet calendar, which has become a tradition!
As there is still a good month going for the Challenge, you still have time to participate as well. Just check our rules on the Christmas Challenge page and make contact with the webmaster with your submission!

http://www.spectrum-headquarters.com/fa ... tion_1.htm
Those of you who are familiar of the Spectrum HQ Forum will have recognised pictures and captions gathered through the years for the various "Christmas Caption Games". We have decided to put all of them together in one single file to post on this year's Challenge. On that occasion, we wish to thank all who collaborated through the years to the caption games - and also to those who provided a few other captions to add to the pages!
The Christmas Challenge is finished for this edition! So other thanks are in order: thank you, all who participated to the challenge, either with stories or beta-reading, and thanks to all of you who came to read these stories. We hope you enjoyed them, and that you'll come back next year for more Christmas Challenge stories!
Next: the Christmas Challenge might be finished, but that doesn't mean activities will cease on the website! We have other goodies to offer you in the coming weeks/months! So, be sure to check these pages often!
Bye for now!
