Hmmm interesting. I did feel that the action sequence with the tanks at the beginning could have been dumped, and the episode start with Black being captured, so the limited time was spent in fleshing out the story a little, though I know they are keen on packing in action. For instance, we could have seen Scarlet back on Earth at the end and a proper explanation as to whether the Mysterons were really destroyed.

I've been thinking about this episode this afternoon, trying to work out why I didn't really like it when it should have been a really good story!! I think it was because yet again the episode was too short, or at least the time spent in the Mysterons city was. It could have been absolutely spectacular, with all sorts of interaction between Scarlet and Black as the Mysterons tried to take them both back, maybe with Black remaining human and being killed again, after trying to save Scarlet? Still, it will be interesting to see what happens if we do get another series.

I agree though, the CGI was totally brilliant.

I can't imagine what Greyskulls is going to be like now though. :(

another average story ... anyone else sick of it now ? only one more to go, probably just as well, eh ?

Absolutely NOT!!!!! to both!!

I have yet to seen most of this second series episodes (Only seen the first three during my stay in England), but what I can safely say from reading the posts on the forum, and by all the comments that I heard through these last months - is that the ONLY thing I'm sick of is of the disgraceful way ITV has been treaten this series. From the start to the end, it would seem.

Yes, I would very much like to see this series continue its run, with a third, and maybe a fourth season, however unlikely it could be.

But I do hope that, if that happens, IT WILL NOT be aired by ITV. It deserves better respect than this.

Blue and Ochre caught up to Scarlet and Black very fast. They leave Skybase a couple of minutes later, but by the time they all reach the ground they're within firing range of each other. Don't know how they managed to lose Scarlet and Black though...

The search bikes stop in the desert, and Scarlet takes out Ochre with one shot. Blue then pulls a gun on him, and Scarlet asks him not to shoot. Um...Paul, maybe he'd be a bit more co-operative if you hadn't just shot Elaine...

The security guard on duty at the cell wakes up so fast after Scarlet escapes with Black that I thought he was somehow just pretending to be stunned and that there was some sort of trick going on...

What was the deal with all the names appearing on computer screens?

Wouldn't it have been interesting if Dominion had veered off into....

The Bison stops in front of the materialising city. The Mysterons speak: "Welcome Scarlet. We've been expecting you. Black has returned you to us so that we may reassimilate you". Scarlet turns to Black: "you tricked me!" Black gasps: "No! It's not true, Paul!". Both are transported into the city. Scarlet attacks Black straight away but an unseen force pulls him away and he is taken to a area of pulsating light and sound, where he is bound by energy fields. He screams in agony as a crown of plasma light surrounds his head. Black pleads with the Mysterons to let him go and to take him back instead. "If that is your wish, so be it..." Scarlet collapses to the floor, in time to see his one-time friend's eyes start to turn green once more. "Run", Black whispers. Black reaches for a timed grenade from his pouch, sets it off and jumps into the energy ball. Scarlet runs back to the Bison before the city explodes in a chain reaction. The city is no more but a figure rises from the dust cloud as the Mysteron voice says "Welcome home, Captain Black; welcome to eternity...."

Shooting an unarmed woman (well she was armed but her weapon was still in its holster) in the back, without warning is generally not considered to be very sporting and is quite likely to make folks a bit pissed off with you. Especially when you then shoot your best friend in the chest after asking him not to shoot you first.

One thing I did like was the view of the shuttle flying past Skybase and Colonel White's whole body language as he watched it - good bit of CGI characterisation

I may be alone here but I thought Dominion was fantastic. A marvellous wasy to end the series, if only it had been screened in the correct order  .

Hopefully it will appear on the DVD as the series finale.

Well airing it after 'Dominion' diminishes that episode's open-endedness :? by making it seem like one big trick, which - at this point - was supposedly not the intention...

I've watched it a couple of times now, and I think I was being a bit harsh saying I didn't like it earlier. I think the Mysteron city bit should have been much longer, infact I think this episode really would have been good as a two parter, the first part leading to the capture of Black and the second part being the trip to the Mysteron City.

My son thought it was fantastic, he loved the scenes in the Mysteron City.

I thought it was very good. This story is something that I'm sure fans had been hoping for - a Scarlet teaming up with Black to destroy the Mysterons.

There are problems but I think it is really a solid story and really could have been a two parter. I wonder if they had orginally written a one story version and a two part version just in case it was picked up for more episodes? More than likely by the time they were working on this episode the series could have been a ratings hit and it would have been very easy to create additional scenes throught the one parter to make it into a two parter. The season ender would be with Scarlet and Black ready to go to Mars and season 3 opener would have them get into the city, etc.

My take on the ending was that the Mysterons over estimated the power of Black and Scarlet's humanity. They really did lose control of Black but because they are such a proud race, they would not admit it. Once Black and Scarlet got to the city, they brought them in to regain control of Black and were probably doing the same to Scarlet until he escaped.

The city and the Mysteron force was destroyed but only temporarily as we see Black and the Mysteron rings on Mars again.

The other idea that the Mysterons did retake Scarlet and will use him against Spectrum is possible.

I think this is an excellent ending to the series and am very happy with it overall. I am a Gerry Anderson fan and have placed this series into my third favorite of his of all time.

Now we get to see one more highly anticipated episdoe!!

As always, visually stunning. Not seen too many of the season two episodes, but have been re-watching the season one shows, and the movement of the characters' mouthes look a lot better in this second season.

It was a good storyline, certainly different to the ones we've had so far. Some of the story points could have been cleaned up a little bit perhaps. The whole destruction of the Mysteron City bit at the end with just one tiny bomb... didn't like that so much, but hey.

Also a shame that Scarlet hasn't been killed and reconstructed too much as somebody else mentioned. Still, I enjoyed the episode a lot, and as a season finale, it's cracking and really leaves you wanting more.

Shame isn't it...

I saw this episode at the Fanderson convention in September, and liked it very much. It rewards a second viewing - I hadn't noticed that White wore his shoes to bed! Mind you, Cloudbase personal seem to wear some very odd things in bed. Remember Green's weird leotard in Swarm? She looked very uncomfortable.

I felt that Dominion had a slightly so-so plot, but the same can be said of so many of the episodes. Am I the only one who was hoping for a little flash of green in Scarlet's eyes as he said, "I'm coming home."?

All in all, I felt it was a very effective series closer, with a nice bit of ambiguity at the end - which faction of the Mysterons now has Black? Is the war over? At least, it should have been the series finale. A vote of no thanks to whoever loused up the scheduling.

This comment can be applied to several episodes other than this one: shouldn't Spectrum body armour be designed to withstand a stun blast from a Spectrum gun?

As Marcus says - the final insult from MoM. Or perhaps it'll be only the penultimate insult, if they wreck the showing of Grey Skulls by starting it ten minutes early to stymie anybody who only turns on their TV to watch Scarlet, and then cutting the final five minutes to show a custard pie fight instead. I really don't think anything would surprise me any more.

As to the story, well, I rather enjoyed it - or rather, I would have rather enjoyed it had it been shown as the final episode as it should have been. And Hazel isn't alone in wondering whether it would have been better if we'd seen a flash of green in Scarlet's eyes as the spaceship took off right at the end, with Black standing on the Martian sand gazing up sadly and wondering how on earth he's going to warn them...

As to what they spent the two-week journey talking about on the way to Mars, well, they probably spent some of it playing eeny-meeny-miney-mo for a lunch date at Claridges with Captain Ochre when they got back, and a trip to the Skybase chippie with Destiny for the loser!

Another great episode that should, as usual, have been much longer and agreed spoilt by MOM by not placing it in its correct order. Hope they put it right in the forthcoming DVD. We now know the outcome of the series. :(

Im sure there are elements in ITV who wish this to fail as its not hard to spot if your a UK regular watcher of the series.

Lets see if they can muck up Grey Skulls. Please dont give them ideas Doc

There will soon be a large hole in my life, that cant be filled, even with my DVD set.. what to do

Is there anything on House Of Dolls we can read about?

Well - we have one more episode - hopefully more action figures, diecast cars, books and other merchandise, Another DVD release, a launching in Japan and someday in the Americas and Australia with perhaps more merchandise (Konami maybe?) and perhaps another showing on the BBC in a few years. Something to look forward to from the series..
