Given the obvious strengths of the CGI in creating texture and naturalistic movement, this lack of surface interation really jarrs with me but then I do seem to spend a distressing amount of time looking at the backgrounds rather than watching the action!

Toropiusu wrote:Once major error I noticed though. Mars is 80,000,000 km from Earth, and in Rat Trap it stated Spectrum craft take 2 weeks to reach it. However, they clearly use the same craft to reach the Moon, which White says takes 24 hours. However the moon is only 384,403 km from Earth, which would of taken just over 90 minutes presuming a constant speed, and even if you factor in things such as acceleration and take off speed it's still way out.

Not necessarily. Even if a car is capable of 100 mph on a straight run of motorway, you would not accelerate to that speed on a shorter, windy stretch of road. Making the assumption there is more 'traffic' (i.e. satellites and other Earth-Moon flights) then the co-ordination of a transLunar flight may be more time consuming in term of pre-flight, launches - which might have to be scheduled around others, rather than just hopping on a jet and taking off - orbit, transorbit insertion, trajectory (at a lower speed, as there may be an optimum, rather than maximum, acceleration), orbit insertion and landing.

I loved it when Blue smashed into that building. It's an old gag to have something mad happen and then have the character involved say some flippant line afterwards, but it was used to good effect here.

This episode totally had me in the palm of it's hand at the beginning, but kind of loosened it's grip as it went along. Pretty good overall though

"Now to cure my Scarlet Fever" - great line!!

I enjoyed this one - great visuals all around. The whole destroying the resort, especially when the resort had been evacuated, made little sense. I thought Black should have gone after the tour buses and tried to destroy them one by one - that would have made more sense.

Why was Scarlet not sick when hanging out with the Mysteronized informant?

Great action throughout.

Oh, yea, I could just make out my house from the arial Satellite shot at the begining of the episode!!

I missed it asgain this week, was this the one with the office featuring a kind of verander in a glass sphere frame type thing? If it was, I can add some more stuff to my site.

Can you confirm that Andy? or Howard?

Cheers!

Would it have been a computer memory restriction or lack of time that prevented the 'tracks' being done? VoxeLove said they ran out of time for some of the FX on Proteus.

Maybe, like with Ochre and Magenta, he'd have preferred to have left the people slowly suffocating in the tour buses with no chance of rescue...

These Mysterons do seem to have a real sense of sadism.

Another great mini-movie! I liked the different settings in this one - skipping from New York to Egypt to the Moon like a James Bond film. The New York scenes were superb - could have been out of any action film. However the Egypt bits were probably superfluous and time could have been spent fleshing out the story more as it was a bit lacking - Ochre and Magenta's off screen capture was a little unconvincing, once again Black misses a chance to bump off Spectrum personnel!

Some of the CGI on the Moon was a little odd I thought - especially the way Black's face moved as he talked in the Bison.

The Tranquillity commander looked / sounded like Mary Falconer from Terrahawks (eek)

A couple of errors - When Ochre is chasing the crook, Blue says to her 'Don't lose him, Serena.' Isn't she Elaine?! And Scarlet ejects, but an ejector seat is seen leaving the yellow Bison not the red one (That may be black escaping though?)

Overall, a four rather than five star episode. Picking a favourite from the later episodes is going to be hard.

As to the first point, I thought Blue was talking to Green as she was tracking by satellite. As to the second, my wife asked about this and after playing back the video a dozen times, it looks like we see the canopy blow off Scarlet's Bison before his ejector seat appears. The ejector seat appears too far back for it to have come from Black's Bison. However, only the production crew knows for sure, I guess!

I really hope there will be a season 3, but I read an interview with Gerry Anderson recently, and he said that if he were to make another series of NCS, it would have to be shown in America first, and get very good ratings. Then it would have to be repeated and get good ratings again, and then the station that was showing it might ask Sony for another season. Then it would take another 2 years to make...... :(

Still, I suppose that gives us plenty of time to start a wish list of what we'd like to see (or not see!!) next time around...!!

Why does everyone think that New Captain Scarlet wont be popular in the U.S. Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit was quite popular in the US aswell as The Office. And theres a rumor that big US TV network "HBO" has bought the rights to show Dr Who. So maybe theres hope for New Captain Scarlet to be successful in the U.S.
