The begining of the epiosde was good but I thought this episode would have Black and Scarlet fist fighting on the lunar surface.

P.S I didnt get why destorying a holiday complex on the moon would help the Mysterons destroy earth.

Oh no... the battle of the Bisons was really cool! 8) But in the shot where we saw them circling from above... did one Bison have a shadow, and the other not? :?

It might have been a morale shatterer?

I was so wrapped up in the gorgeous visuals, I'd overlooked that!

Anyone notice that Scarlet and Ochre had personalised Bisons, not to mention Scarlet's red-tagged Stallion?

What a cool sound those sky-riders make!

Lots of collateral damage this week too. Who pays for it all?

Best bit? Scarlet's moon-walking - I bet that was fun for the motion capture people!

Oh that's simple! You do a side to side hopping motion, then slow it down - after all that's what they did for the faked Moon landings!

Another nice one. Seeing this one after a 'first series' episode really makes me appreciate how far the animation has come. The vehicles really looked like they had some weight.

Surprised there weren't really any UFO / 1999 references...

The traffic in the chase scene was great, there was so much of it. Spotted a Hydralabs truck in there...

Nice to finally give Ochre and Magenta their actual colour names - but how did Black get into their Bison?

Another poor story ... good cgi ... irritating over-use of christian names...
in one scene Scarlet calls Captain Black "Black", the next scene he calls him "Conrad" ...
in one scene Black calls Scarlet "Scarlet", the next scene he calls him "Paul" ...

reminded me of 'The Waltons' ... i was half-expecting John-Boy to turn up !! ....
"Goodnight John-Boy"

Another great episode. I loved the chase scenes at the beginning. As good as the best bits of the Paris chase in the Robert De Niro/Jean Reno film Ronin.

At least we are seeing more of characters that were relegated to minor cameo roles in the original series. I think that Ochre has now had more screen time alone than all the other colour coded captains in the original put together. Same for the Angels.

Stunning visuals as always, and I enjoyed the episode once I'd got over the 'all this to blow up a holiday resort??' shock!! The scenes with the sky-riders and the chase around New York and the Statue of Liberty were fantastic.

The moon scenes were excellent, I loved the bisons 'flying' over the dunes and rocks, very realistic sand too, and I thought Captain Scarlets' moon walk a very nice touch!! I noticed some very shiny helmets along the way too, small things again but it is so nice to see someone cared enough about the series to bother with the little details.

The kids enjoyed it too, great chases, things being blown up, a trip to the moon and a fight between Scarlet and Black - what could be better? And isn't that what it's all about anyway!

:D

Contrary to popular belief, this episode wasn't actually shot on the moon but in a hangar in Area 51 - hence the dodgy lighting... :P

Absolutely agree! Yet again, I felt that this episode could have been stretched to 45 minutes and still kept up the pace. Think what could be done with a feature length story!

You mean it wasn't done in a B52?....

Can we assume that all Captains have their own Bison? Well, except Blue of course. His is probably a smouldering wreck embedded in the wall of some building :P

I liked the story on this one, once again it always hints at something much more obvious before surprising you, in this case a planned attack on Earth while Spectrum was focusing on the Moon. Serena's character seemed odd for some reason though. I guess it's just the last time we saw her off duty she was trapped in a cacoon.

Once major error I noticed though. Mars is 80,000,000 km from Earth, and in Rat Trap it stated Spectrum craft take 2 weeks to reach it. However, they clearly use the same craft to reach the Moon, which White says takes 24 hours. However the moon is only 384,403 km from Earth, which would of taken just over 90 minutes presuming a constant speed, and even if you factor in things such as acceleration and take off speed it's still way out.

It wasn't just Tranquility Base the Mysterons wanted to destroy. Black says he's going to use the Bison to destroy all Earth colonies on the Moon.

Did anyone else notice that in one very quick shot of the chase scene, the motorbike is suddenly driving on completely empty roads, being followed by some shadows...

Why is Blue doing a Lloyd Grossman impression in the final scene?

Finally caught an MoM episode this morning (no work!). Great story and I love the idea of the Mysterons destroying the resort - talk about a soft target!

One niggle - none of the characters or ground transport interacted at all with the surfaces at all. the land rover and raid bike left no tracks in the sand despite throwing up substantial dust clouds and the Bisons left no tracks in the lunar dust.

Given the obvious strengths of the CGI in creating texture and naturalistic movement, this lack of surface interation really jarrs with me but then I do seem to spend a distressing amount of time looking at the backgrounds rather than watching the action!
