Enjoyed this one!
The air battle sequence at the beginning was awesome, as good as any I've seen in live action..eg new Battlestar..well done whoever did it! My heart was thumping!!!

Nice to see the Angels getting a bit more air time, although why does it always have to be Destiny who saves them..boring...still..she showed some cool survival techniques..

Second South African baddie...they'll be getting stereotyped...

I wonder though...wouldn't Spectrum have been able to tell if that volcano was about to blow on the island???? Course..maybe they didnt think to look...Okay a minor detail which did'n't prevent me enjoying the action.

I also wondered about the pirate captain's ability to read the Angels minds..was that supposed to be something conferred after she was Mysteronised?

Oh..and even Col. White thinks Blue is gung-ho...oh dear...

I liked this episode but I thought there was 4 Angels that crashed on the beach whilse the other 1 protected the swift.

I dont think she could read there minds. I think she just has the power to hypnotise like Comander Lewis hypnotised Dr Gold in "Homcoming".

Well again, not the most thought provoking of scripts but a nice action one.

Some noticed points - the ship the bio-hazard was stolen from was called 'Four Feathers', and I think it said 'Granada something' underneath. Nice touch, considering who owns the distribution rights to NCS!

Count the cliches! Pirates, and a volcano. Ooh, can you guess what's gonna happen?

Struck me as vaguely similar to the 'Lupus' strip in The Angels - trapped on an island with armed baddies. Another nod to the comic genre?

Not exactly the most thought-provoking, I'd agree. I don't understand why the Mysteronised pirates didn't simply kill one or more of the three Angels the instant they had the chance and Mysteronise them to discover what they wanted to know, or for that matter why the Angels didn't take the pirates' guns as soon as they managed to gain the upper hand in the fight on the beach, regardless of whether they chose to use them to eliminate the enemy in the obvious manner. Little things like that irritate me no end, I'm afraid - but then I also have difficulty believing that extraterrestrial beings possessing the incomprehensible powers of the Mysterons can't find out something as relatively straightforward as the location of a summit conference using somewhat less convoluted methods, given what we've already seen of their capabilities. Nice action sequences though.

thats because Lee Stringer from ZOIC (Studio behind the new Battlestar effects) came over the pond and helped us make one of the best dogfights Ive seen in TV CG history! :D

Absolutely - take the guns, kill the Mysteron replicants and then spend some more time sunning on the beach before decanting to the ship when the volcano erupts  . It would certainly have been quicker than fashioning bows and arrows and flint daggers!

For that matter, why weren't they armed anyway? Who knows, there may have been bears in that jungle...

Nice dogfight though!

Oh and to continue the "mind that ledge" theme, two for the price of one this week!

I missed the dog-fight - looks like I missed the best bit.
In a word - awful.
Too many oddities like:
not picking up the guns after they attacked the pirates
Wandering accents
an Angel look-alike for the main baddy
volcanoes that erupt without warning.
A very odd seashore...
Yet more hot lava as a menace for the heroines...

Nice touch - Lt Green's remark about going green with jealousy...

BTW- I usually don't see the live TX - but this week I did. What the **CENSORED** was that stupid MOM presenter doing? This convinces me once and for all that CITV don't like the show, don't care what happens to it and are, in fact, almost out to belittle and degrade it... whatever I personally think about NCS and this episode in particular - That is appalling... (!?!_)

I think it was a Frank Spencer impression.

On the plus side, good to see the Angels get their own episode, in a Seek & Destroy style.

The pirate characters were better than expected - I was half expecting eye patches, parrots on shoulders, etc, so it could have been worse.

Some of the cliches & plotholes as pointed out above did ask you to suspend disbelief a bit too much, like the volcano about to blow, why didn't they just shoot the Angels etc.

Liked the nod to Terminator with the robot hand disappearing into the lava!

I suppose it's a bit different but it's not among the best of the episodes.

Crumbs- is that was it was? And there was me thinking of King Arthur and the sword excalibur... (giggles...)
If I ever get down from this lofty ivory tower and join the 21st century - it'll be a minor miracle...

Nice one, liked it. Some of the island visuals were gorgeous, particularly in the 'day' scenes, with the girls running through the trees...others didn't seem as good, particularly some of the water shots.

Nice to see Ochre again, getting annoyed by bored Blue on the Swift...he reminded me of Donkey travelling to Far Far Away at the start of Shrek 2 for some reason... :)

Was that Captain Grey piloting the Swift?

Great to see Harmony again, and isn't this the first time we've heard anything from Melody since Swarm? I couldn't get a handle on her accent though...

Liked the pirate woman, even though she looked like Harmony...her hand was very well done.

Did anyone else think they saw blood trickling down Harmony's face when she was being tortured? Because of the way some of her red hair was floating around, it looked like the pirate had actually sunk her fingers into her skin.

Liked the toucan. Not as good as the eagle from Contact, but I liked the toucan.

I didn't like Destiny saving the day, again. It might have been nice if she'd gone on with the Swift, and we could have Rhapsody there instead.

The girls put in a pretty poor showing in combat with the Vampires...

Yeh, I noticed that too - though I was half expecting the hand to give us the finger (rude gesture, for our younger readers! ) as it disappeared.

Would have made a great out-take if nothing else!

I didn't think I was going to like this one much, I have always preferred the more creepy episodes, but I quite enjoyed it in the end.

It was very satisfying to see Destiny land some good punches, and I was very impressed with her home-made weapons and archery skills. But why didn't the Angels pick up at least one of the guns after the fight with the pirates?

Another odd thing, I don't remember if it's happened before, but were the pirates killed by the gas or just rendered unconscious and put under some sort of mind control by the Mysterons? They didn't materialize with a puff of green smoke to start with, just got up, and they didn't vanish in a puff of green smoke when they were 'killed' .

I loved the dog-fight at the beginning, and the volcano effects, and yeah, I liked the toucan too, although I half expected it to make some sort of 'intruder alert' announcement before sounding off a siren!! Neat tattoos on the pirate too!!

I nearly forgot, when Destiny made that remark about the ocean being as blue as Scarlets' eyes and the shot went to Captain Scarlet, was it our telly or were his eyes definately NOT blue??!

I thought it was blood trickling down her face, but later decided it couldn't have been because there were no puncture marks!

I think the dog fihgt looked pretty nice over all, but that aside, I must confess to liking nothing else about this episode. I know I'll be fussier than many, and on the plus side, I think it's the first 'duff' one for me in season2 :) Oh, the toucan, the way it landed on the branch actually looked ace. Kudos to the dude(s) responsible for that.

Cheers!
