MSV (Dinky Toy 105)

I have an old MSV which previously belonged to my brother - and it's had a fair bit of wear and tear as a consequence. The paintwork is badly chipped in places, it has lost the 'stripe' down the centre, ditto the aerial, the boxes that fitted in the model and the fold down steps. On the plus side it still has the side 'gull wing' doors (which work) the side Spectrum logos and all its wheels.

I wouldn't mind cleaning it up and maybe restoring at least the look of it a little. I'm not interested in selling it or its value in general - I would just like to put it with my less decrepit toys from that era.

Has anyone ever tried to touch up/repaint one of these toys? I also have a question about the stripe that ran down the top of the model. I think it was made of a kind of adhesive metallic paper - possibly silver with a thin black band on its sides - perhaps someone can confirm this? I have some adhesive silver foil/paper that might do the trick.

I believe it was but I've always considered doing one up properly as per the studio model colour scheme, which was a silverish-grey...



Curiously, the Japanese kit parts were moulded in grey, though the one I have is a bit small.
