I'm new so ahh .........well last August on a radio station, Anderson said that he wasn't very happy with ITV because they put the £26.000.000 show on MOM in the morrnings, they have always put his other stuff on at 6pm, i mean for that amount of money spent on it ud expect it to be put on a time when EVERYONE can watch it!!! so he wasn't bothered what happend to the NCS!! Maybe some one told Granada and they thought right well teach him, and made everything terrible for the fans, by doing all this

I think this really deflated him or he just doesn't dwell on things and has moved on - although I am uncertain if his newest project is getting anywhere or not and if he will have more luck with promotion - as long as he stays away from the sinking ITV.

yeah for kids, not adults as well, thats why gerry makes these progs so the WHOLE family can watch it's not just for kids, thats why they used to stick his stuff on at 6pm, everyones home and doesn't have to tape it like in the morn and watch it later. Any way for that time of day (11am) 4 million viwers every episode isn't bad!!!!!
Blame ITV for it all!!!

I kept an eye on the BARB figures analysis throughout the whole first transmission of NCS, and in the 4 weeks before and after both 'series'. MoM's overall ratings never went over 0.9 million. The segment in which NCS was shown was usually between 0.4 and 0.8 million. So - sorry chaps - NCS usually caused a DROP in MoM's figures, not a rise. Admittedly, for a Saturday morning, 0.9 is a fairly good result, with all the competition there is these days, but alas, nowhere near the 4 million that adam quotes, and which I've seen mentioned before on this forum.
I have no idea where the figure of 4 million viewers came from. It may have been a misreading of 0.4 million, but I saw the 4 million figure quoted on this forum long before the NCS figures dropped that low (in the aborted ITV1 repeat run, the highest figure achieved was 0.3 million.) In this digital age of multiple channels, 4 million is a sensational, and rarely reached, figure for a children's programme.
(BTW - in case anyone wonders about my credentials, I work in the television industry, and have done since 1977. I have had professional experience and involvement with viewing figures for the last 10 years, in one capacity or another)

I seem to remember that BBC2 showed the Anderson shows at 6pm in the 1990s - right enough - but the original broadcasts in the ATV region of ITV in the 60s were during the Children's Hour of TV which finished before 6pm when it was the early evening national news. So it wasn't always the case that they were shown as 'family shows'.
BTW - not everyone's home to watch TV at 6pm - I work until 7pm most afternoons - and then I have to get home... so I'm still stuck with a video recording, as I was with the Saturday morning broadcasts of NCS - cos I was at work then too.
In the case of NCS the stated target audience was 4-9 year old boys - not families.

It is possible that by the time production was being done on the later episodes that no one at ITV was caring of the content of each episode and that a couple of more mature episodes got through.
I think we all agree that the target age should have been more like 7 - 15 range perhaps.

I think we already established, through Hazel's various postings (and her credentials are genuine, if you happen to doubt that) that the 4 million viewers number is wrong - most likely being a misreading mistake of 0.4 million instead. Still probably a good number for a Saturday morning show that DIDN'T receive that much marketing attention.

I don't have a clue - but that is what their own publicity claimed before the series was launched.
Frankly, I don't think the right hand knew what the left hand was doing

The '12' rating age on the DVD set has been mentioned in a previous topic already, go check on that subject:
http://spectrum-headquarters.com/v-web/ ... .php?t=715
I still have the PDF documents on which the 'target audience of 4 to 9' is indicated

My guess is that if it was indeed that much ITV would have tried harder.
