Advertise NCS DVD boxset on Million Dollar Homepage?
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
Maybe I am going a bit crazy in my old age (nearly 54) but I just sent the following message to Nick Williams at Fanderson:
Nick,
Just a thought but maybe you have heard all the furore about the student who has made a million dollars by creating an Advertising Homepage. Here is a link to the BBC article ...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4585026.stm
And here is a link to the million dollar homepage, itself ...
http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/
And here is a link to some of the few 2500 pixel advertising spaces still available on eBay ...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %3AIT&rd=1
I guess the remaining 12 spaces will go pretty quickly but £125.00 is a small outlay for worldwide publicity. If Gerry decided to go ahead with this, maybe he could just provide a link to the Amazon.co.uk advert for the New Captain Scarlet Series 1 DVD boxset ...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... 74-9916454
Just an idea but the US, in particular, might pick up on it!
Best Wishes
If I had any money I might buy one of the smaller spaces myself. A space with a link to this forum could be interesting!

Nick,
My apologies - I was too hastey with the eBay link. Here is an old auction from the real guy mentioned on the BBC:

Best Wishes
The other eBay link was from a rip-off merchant, I'm afraid.

The NCS show was produced by a company as a business venture - not by some charity as a philanthropic gesture. Consequently it is up to them to promote and advertise the quality of their wares - not the fans of the show, surely?
I have bought the series 1 DVDs and if it ever appears, I will buy series 2 - I expect - but I will not be made to feel responsible for the inadequate marketing and promotion budget of the producers, manufacturers and investors in the show.
The people that made the show were, presumably, professionals - and the quality of the production seems to be accepted as of a high class from the comments I have read here. Personally, I don't know a thing about TV production values, nor CGI techniques - I just take your word for it. However, the marketing side of the business seems to have been a shambles - for whatever reason.
And that - as they say - is their own problem.

Nice thought, but ultimatly not our battle. Well it technically shouldn't be. They should be pulled out all the stops to cajole us, not that other way round.

Enterprise fans saving money to pay for the series return just isn't right. Let the rich companies pay for it - fans support it in other ways.
On the other hand, if something is reasonable and within our control, we should go for it.
