Seriously though, the little one (four) finds some of it a bit scary, he won't watch Touch of the Reaper at all now. The older one (eight) loves the series.

A quick search for other titles of interest reveals the following:
Doctor Who boxset (not yet released) - rank 79
Thunderbirds Complete Series - rank 412
I am afraid my plan was to try to hold out until all 26 episodes came out in a single boxset but I am now having second thoughts about this idea. Maybe there will just be separate boxsets for Series 1 and Series 2 and perhaps I should order Series 1 now while there is still a good discount on Amazon.
I didn't want to purchase a Series 1 boxset and then subsequently a 26 episode boxset and then have to sell the first boxset on eBay. Maybe a complete boxset won't be an option - I am sure Fanderson will keep us informed.
I am concerned about the ranking of 708 because this maybe suggests that Gerry's hope that the series will gather momentum and take off as a result of DVD sales to adults could be problematic. Hopefully, there will be a big marketing effort at Christmas with tv adverts showing some of the best clips.

Absolutely!! You can rest assured that Santa has already been out there doing his bit to to aid the NCS merchandising sales figures!
Chris, Santa knows perfectly well that he doesn't need to give ME toys at Christmas. He knows that at some point the little darlings are going to be tucked up safely out of the way, err, I mean in bed, leaving all the goodies just lying around for the taking..... Or is that what you meant....??!

In case anyone is interested and hopefully no one will think I am too crazy, but I have tracked the Amazon rankings for the past month or so with the following results -
1630 - August 17
2893 – August 22
1738 – August 23
937 - August 25
875 – August 26
756 – August 29
728 – August 30
644 – August 31
699 – September 1
547 – September 6
681 – September 8
475 – September 9
576 – September 12
504 – September 18
605 - September 23
The best ranking number I stumbled across was around 300 last weekend (Maybe after people watch the episodes on Saturday there is a surge in sales).
Now on the day of release, NCS is currently ranked at #8 for all releases that day. While that may sound good, it trails "Barbie, the Magic of Pegasus" which I actually saw an ad for on TV here in the U.S. for our release of it. Also that day for release is Batman Begins so I guess that means no Number 1 for Scarlet.
I am hoping that NCS can break the top 100 the week it opens and I really wish it could break into the top 20 for a couple of weeks. Don't think that will happen unless they promote it.

I notice that the chart position for NCS jumps up and down quite regularly and it was just above 300 a couple of days ago. It would be nice to get some information about a DVD release of Series 2 which would presumably not be made available until the ITV run comes to an end.

I guess there was a Nokia ad that would be nice to be included. More commentaries from the cast and crew would be great as well.
There is no word on set 2 in terms of release date other than 2006. There may not be a full series box set so buying this set may be the best thing.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if us old-timers are actually in the majority.

She peered at it.
"You're going to tell me that it encapsulates the eternal struggle between The Pussycat Dolls and Girls Aloud, aren't you?"
