I'm not sure how long they will keep inflating for though, and I don't suppose it will be too long before we lose a missile.
I say keep them for the Bigger Kids who will look after them properly!!

I sat with my eldest the other evening and we read some of the facts pages and did the very funny 'Is Your Best Friend a Mysteron Agent?' quiz. He thought it was great!! He is also completely delighted because one of his drawings got published - anyone else know any kids that had writing/drawings printed? He was so excited he took the comic to school to show his friends!!
Thanks again Chris for posting the information about the comic on the website!!

National coverage is obviously not a high priority...

No DVDs but there were 8 copies of the comic at our local Tescos and they weren't the same ones as last week's, so they're obviously shifting units.

Amersham seems to like Captain Scarlet,as "The Entertainer",one of the old-school toyshops i did nt think existed anymore, carries the entire Bandai range...interestingly enough,i popped in yesterday to have a look and they ve sold out of the action figures since last week-a good sign surely?

Wonder if they'll also offer the NCS toys soon?
I'll be keeping my eyes on them.

And cue full interview with New Captain Scarlet magazine editor William Potter:

- in which he explains why this can't be the case (at least initially), and the ins and outs of modern licensing and publishing.
Enjoy.

If you are speaking to Mr Potter again tell him he doesn't need to dumb any of it down for the younger readers. My eldest isn't a great reader, but we've sat and read the mag together and it's been good practice for him to get his head round some of the longer words like 'retrometabolism'!! Kids need something that is interesting, and a bit of a challenge, not something that they find easy!

I don't think that dumbing down is the problem, nor is a lack of brand recognition.
I have a friend who owns a comic shop in the local town. We have noticed that kids are not buying comics like they used to. Modern prices aside (an average American comic is now around the £2.20 mark ), kids are just not reading anymore. Many comics seem to just collect dust on the shelves these days. That is why newsagents are reluctant to stock them. I got this info from my local newsagent who was recently bemoaning this very problem.
Heard very recently in the shop:
Young Boy (Looked about 11 or 12 years old): Dad, can I have one of these comics?
Dad: No. What's the point? You can't read.
I have heard similar conversations over the last couple of years. Thank the Gods for things like Harry Potter.
Are we dumbing down as a civilisation to the point where instant gratification like X-Box and MTV will be the educational mediums?
Aldous Huxley's Brave New World anyone?
