The rapid deployment Albatross makes more sense for the SPV-like Rhinos though. I mean, what happens if you need one and the nearest one is hidden miles away... how many SPVs did the original Spectrum have, after all?

Not very many, I suspect: can anybody remember any SPV registration number having more than three alphanumerics in it? I can't. There are at least 500 of them however: SPV no. 503 was hidden in a trapper's hut near Frost Line Headquarters in Canada. A total of 999 would put them as being less plentiful than AA or RAC roadside phone boxes in the UK - but presumably distributed across the globe, making them so thinly spread that it's not at all likely there'll be one nearby if you want one. Not a very likely scenario!
Alternatively, I suppose they could have the same numbers in different countries, i.e. up to 999 per country. In support of that possibility, I note that Captain Blue requisitioned SPV number A69 in the pilot episode. So either they've got at least two different numbering systems, or each country has a different alphabetic prefix (the United Kingdom having "A"), and Spectrum operatives don't usually bother to specify it when they ask requisition one, since the prefix would normally be obvious.
I prefer the latter theory, though there are a lot more than 26 countries in the world. Perhaps there's either a one- or a two-character designation at the front of the number, and we simply haven't heard anybody use it, for the reason given above. But there's another complication, which is that also in the pilot episode we learn that Spectrum have a helicopter with the designation "A42". It seems highly unlikely to me that helicopters would have the same numbering system as SPVs on account of the potential for confusion. It's much more likely that each vehicle would have a unique number - but that would mean that the UK has no more than 1000 vehicles in total, and I don't believe that one either. Probably the helicopter's actual designation was A42-H or something like that, and again, nobody bothers with the extension that identifies it as a helicopter, since it's obvious.
Finally, Lieutenant Shade, to join, just go back to the top of the page where if you aren't registered already, you'll find a "Register" button in the top right-hand corner of the screen. If you click on that, it'll take you through a page to fill in to join.
