Signals from the Mysteron Base on Mars
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
If the Mysterons had wanted to contact Earth, they would have had no problem doing so. The fact that they had not made their presence known seems to hint that they did not want any contact with us. So my big question is, who or what were the signals aimed at?

Obviously the 'human'? emotion of revenge is beng enacted here...it will be interesting to see if this is explored further.
As to your question Kambei...which is an excellent one..and bothered me from day one..I dont have an answer..(if I did I guess I could write screenplays huh? ) but of course..we would HOPE that that particular foreshadowing question wil be answered...

It seems to go without saying - though it isn't confirmed - that the Mysterons are not native to Mars, so perhaps they were contacting their home planet?

As the new series has no definite dates - the Mysterons may have only started watching us when it became apparant we could get off our little rocky planet...

Ummm... the planet has been dead for millenia? OK, it'll be interesting if the Mysterons are native Martians but I just have a gut feeling they're not.

Besides, what is there to say that the Mysterons need the resources we do to survive? If they are native Martians - or the AI left behind by native Martians - they could have evolved to cope with the local environment.
If we are being asked to accept the existance of the Mysterons, I don't see why we should be bound by any conventional wisdom about the planet Mars.....

Well that's why i warned about crossing the formats of the series - there is as little to suggest the new Mysterons are anything remotely to do with the originals - whatever they were! - as there is to suggest the new ones are native to Mars.
It's square one as far as I'm concerned.
After all, in the very original format, the Mysteron reconstructions were androids - including Captain Scarlet. This was only changed when it was felt the viewers would have less sympathy for such a character.
My feeling is that if the new Mysterons are as powerful as we see, then Mars is less likely to be a dead world. They could have kept it habitable. More likely is that the complex is a colony or outpost. I know this harks back to the original format but why have such power at your fingertips - and let your planet die around you?
