Confusion?
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
Black was killed on Mars - his real body was shipped back and buried on Earth where he was ressurected by the Mysterons. Or was his body already a Mysteron clone?
Scarlet wasn't killed on Mars but got 'taken over' by the Mysterons. Or was he killed on Mars and a clone made and sent back to Earth?
The businessman was killed and a clone was made by the Mysterons.
I'm just a little confused as to what the Mysterons do. Kill them and make clones or take over living and dead bodies?

The inference was that Black was obviously dead and that Scarlet was - possibly- 'taken over' on Mars - although he wasn't aware of this until he was back on Cloudbase and the familar green circles came and washed over him. Then the voice of the Mysterons said how he would be their 'Instrument of Destruction'.
When Scarlet broke free from their control - again presumably, when Blue shot him and he fell trhough what the MOM presenter said was a 'plasma beam' - the Mysterons - obvioulsy peeved at Scarlet's desertion - turned their attention to Black - saying (I think) 'we have another who will become our instrument of destruction' (don't have the exact words to hand) So maybe Black was shipped back as dead but had already been Mysteronised as a first reserve?
There was nothing to signify that Scarlet died on Mars - but Doctor Gold ( - a man with an appalling bedside manner!) said that this was not the Scarlet who was sent to Mars - as his DNA had been altered at a 'sub-atmomic level'.
This one could be tricky to work out - unless more is explained in future weeks.

So, I was wondering - why was he buried in what appears to be an English Churchyard - not far from Pinewood or so it seems? - and why was 'Captain Grey' playing the bagpipes? (Not that I object to bagpipes...)
It would seem more likely that he would have been buried in America - if not in Boston itself. The presence of a henge nearby (and how did they get permission to turn that into a garage???) seems to rule out an American location.
Looks like the new CGI version will be as confusing as the original one in the continuity department

In the case of the Russian pilots they were clearly burnt to a crisp.

Obviously, this isn't quite what happened to the Russian general as he was still capable of interacting with Destiny and Colonel White (and was with Black in the Druzynik) - although it may be some form of short-term mind control. The robot bugs stolen from the research facilty were obviously designed as some kind of weapon and the presence of the Mysteron rings would indicate that their purpose has been adapted to some degree...
As far as the Scarlet on Mars debate goes, my money is on Scarlet being killed on Mars at the same time as Black. The Mysterons then resurrected him without direct control and waited until he arrived at Skybase to "trigger" him (which of course, is a possible explanation for what happened to the general too but then again, Black went to a lot of trouble to get the robot bugs...).
Oh, and in all the cases of full "Mysteronization" I've seen, the victims body is destroyed and reconstructed as a Mysteron replica.

Probably 'cos he's Scottish..or so they say...Iain Taggart's the name! Wonder if he's from Glasgow..
But Marion...Will..Aegis ...I have to agree that there are a few unanswered questions..which I HOPE will be answered in the following eps...so I will hold my peace for now....

Did the MOM edit the episode and remove the scene of the General being killed?
I don't know if that was ever planned but no - there was no scene of the general being killed - just the robot spider "Mysteronizing" him...

Another given bites the dust!
But this also raises several other questions.
1. Just what a Mysteron agent is.
2. Was Scarlet 'killed' and retrometabolised on Mars or was his control by the Mysterons an example of this new remote-control capability?
3. If so, do other humans who fall under their control by this new method, become indestructible as well and what happens to them when the Mysterons have finished with them?
4. Killing some chosen victims but not all, reinforces the Mysterons' evil nature - something that was always open to debate previously. If they do not have to kill, why do they kill at all?
Whatever happened on Mars in the original series - humans had been the aggressors - now that isn't so clear either. The Mysterons did, apparantly, launch the first attack. However, the fact that the destruction of their first 'missile' - by Captain Black- led to the destruction of their entire city does tend to suggest they'd got the wiring wrong somewhere...

Hmm yes. He could well be a neighbour of mine in good old Maryhill! (Which is where Taggart is set, for those of you who don't know)
