I received this in the mail last week. I must admit that I'd had trepidations about getting it, as I wasn't sure how dated it would look. I'm pleased to say that it's not too bad at all. Sure, you've got those flares and you've got Barbara Bain's "I've just been goosed!" expressions but the stories hold up and the Eagles look as great as ever. The picture's been remastered and looks bang up to date and there's a new 5.1 sound mix as well. Extras include interviews with GA and the production team (interviews with the cast members would have been nice though) and a Clapperboard documentary (whatever happened to Chris Kelly?).

Would I bother with series two? Probably not. I never cared for Catherine Schell's knobbly eyebrows and her metamorphing antics. And what was with the cardigans?

As an aside, HMV had UFO volumes 1-4 for £19.99 at the weekend. That's £30 off! BUY! BUY! BUY!

I thought the jackets in Year 2 were cool! They made the uniforms more attractive, not as dull.

You can get the Series 1 and 2 DVD sets here in Australia for a cheap $18 each (11 pounds!). I might buy them as backups if they come down to $15. :D

I didn't mind the jackets but .... GOSH the sets shrunk in Series Two! :(

I preferred Series One - I only bought the second series to complete the set (and I've had it for nearly year and still haven't got around to watching it! Rules of Luton has probably put me off the idea - I don't think I can ever watch that episode without groaning). :D

Thou shalt not wear hoodies in the Arndale Centre?
Mention of the Vauxhall car plant in the bingo hall will be in hushed tones before 18:00 hrs?
Make your way out in an orderly and dignified fashion, not forgetting to turn out the light if you're the last one leaving?

Lots of rules in Luton, eh?
Clearly Fred Freiberger had the actual place in mind as well as the name. :-D

Always preferred Season One to Season Two. I have always hated American or Americanized shows that have completely ridiculous and/or humourous prologues and epilogues. Buck Rogers was a prime example of this, and unfortunately so was Season 2 Space 1999
