It has that all round awesomeness. With fleshed out characters, good well developed stories, the puppets and such were quite advanced but still had a certain endearing naffness [like their heads bobbing around almost constantly].
Oh and Virgil is lovely

What you said!
But IMHO, Thunderbirds and Stingray would be a close tie for second. They are very similar in concept to each other.
I also adore Phones and that cutie pie, Lieutenant Fisher!

The SR/CS crossover fics on here ['shades of grey' & 'concordian legacy'] are excellent.
You're right Phones is sweet.

I always liked Virgil and Gordon best. I thought Scott was a waste of space: he'd rush off to 'see what the problem was' and usually leave the tricky business of the rescues to his brothers - almost always Virgil.
That said - I do have a lingering affection for Stingray - the first Supermarionation adventure I got to see regularly - thanks to a friend's TV. I always thought Atlanta was a bit soppy, but that Marina was smashing. She rescued the guys a few times AND she didn't need to wear the breathing gear.
I always read her stories in 'Lady Penelope' with interest.

But…when Captain Scarlet hit the screens on I was hooked on Supermarionation all over again. Loved the Captains, thought the hardware and uniforms were great, quite liked the Angels, memorised all the characters’ real names etc (as you do…) CS is a great show!
After Fireball and Captain Scarlet I would say Stingray is next on my list - I thought Marina was very ethereal. I liked Thunderbirds but sometimes too much of the episodes were spent on the hardware and not enough on the characters - I found a few eps a little boring - sometimes an hour of TB could be a little too long.

In TB, Virgil was my favorite pilot (and still is!) and I loved Lady P and her amazing wardrobe. Those fabulous machines, the great music. I still get a shiver when I hear the credits march.
I always wanted to be a Moonbase girl. I remember even putting a purple rinse in my hair...luckily the school had a sense of humour.. as did my mother...

...after Thunderbirds.
Don't get me wrong; I do love Captain Scarlet about as much as anyone here. Just...not as much as those two.

Nope - Joe 90 for me as well.

Thunderbirds action pieces and the action was great, and Stingray was another show that had great stories and action pieces.
Joe 90, I have never really watched, it was repeated in the early 90's when Thunderbirds, Stingray and Captain Scarlet were repeated in the early 90's but I've never honestly watched an episode so I can't really pass judgement on this show.
So that said, Thunderbirds is the next best supermarionation show done by Mr Anderson. - How can you beat that famous countdown at the start of the show as well
