Gerry Anderson was there, signing photos and raising money for the Thames valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance. They were looping Instrument of Destruction part 1 on a screen behind him. We walked passed a few times, but when my son said he'd like to meet him decided we would go and see him and buy a signed photo of Gerry with NCS in the background. Gerry was so nice, we had a brief chat about NCS and he asked if we'd seen it on DVD as it was much better than the MoM showing. I said we had, and were looking forward to the third series! He didn't say anything, just held out his hand. I walked round for the rest of the afternoon feeling ridiculously chuffed for having shaken hands with Gerry Anderson!! And my son was delighted to have met him and get a photograph to show his friends!
Unfortunately though we missed the QA session with Gerry which was today. Wonder if he'll be there again next year....?!

I spotted several vintage objects, including the TV21 annual that I had in the sixties (marked up at a great deal more than its original price, as you could imagine....) and Dinky SPVs T2s and Eagles (in that disgusting metallic green....), as well as a few of the 90s Thunderbird and OCS toys. Glad I've got those safe and sound! Chris C wished she'd bought the Stingray / Terrorfish set - maybe next year!
There was lots of Product Enterprise gear around (shame they weren't there themselves - it would have been nice to have seen the prototypes) but no SPVs, as they're not out for another couple of weeks. Nice looking Stingray and Supercar models - especially the black and white version. I took the chance to pick up a set of Shado Mobiles and some Fanderson enamel badges from one dealer.
******* THREAD DRIFT ALERT ! ! ! *******
There were lots of famous faces around. We got there just in time for a Dave Prowse and Warwick Davis Q&A session, which was good. I bottled out of putting my hand up straight away though and regretted it after the interviewer stopped asking questions after just one from the smaller than average audience. D'OH!!
Red Dwarf were extremely popular (and funny) as were the cast of the DEAD movies (not enough room to get to see that one).
Tom Baker had a queue a mile long for his billed-as-his-last signing session. I've always thought he'd make a good dinner guest (as long as his fellow diners were interesting as well...) with some of the stories he could tell. Paul Darrow was popular, yet Gareth Thomas was twiddling his thumbs. Which brings me to....
I really would have liked to have told some of the celebrities how much I'd enjoyed their work, especially the ones who weren't very busy but I really didn't have the money to spend on lots of autographs. I didn't like to give the impression that I was saying "I really liked you in X but not enough to put my hand in my pocket, thanks very much..." and so walked past, probably giving them the impression that they weren't very popular. You can't win!
This was my first event of this sort; what's the etiquette in these situations?
Definitely recommend the event!

Should be going to that one hopefully
